The Exotic Red Narra Wood: Best for Embellishing Jewelry Box Large Enough for Your Jewelry
Getting a jewelry box large enough to hold your entire collection of exquisite jewelry is not a very difficult task if you know what you are looking for. The Red Narra Wood (Pterocarpus indicus) is predominantly found in northern Australasia and Asia – Burma, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, etc and it is revered as the National Tree of the Philippines. It comes from the Pea Family (Fabacea or Leguminosae). It is known by various names all over the world; the most common names are Andaman Redwood, Angsana, Sena, Sonokembang, Tnug, Kaibocca Wood, Burmese Rosewood, and Asana.
The same tree produces the breathtaking Amboyna Burl. The trunk of the tree measures about 2 m. in diameter and the tree grows really tall to a height of approximately 40 m.. All around the tree, you will on many occasions find buttresses extending outwardly and upwards. It is a very heavy and hardwood.
The most common colors of the hardwood are deep orange red, rose, reddish tan, and in some places it is even said to be purple. If you hold up a piece of this exotic wood to the sun, you will be able to discern the change in its appearance at different angles of light. A substance that is naturally present in its wood cells, also make this wood turn a beautiful opalescent color when submerged in water.
